MERRIMAC — – Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director Larry Fisher and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) encourage residents to take an important survey to assist Seabrook Nuclear Power Station with emergency preparedness planning.
Data collected will help Seabrook Station update emergency preparedness plans for the unlikely event of an incident, such as a chemical spill or radiological event. The information gathered will be shared with local and state emergency management officials to assist with planning.
The survey will include questions about the estimated time needed to evacuate the area, emergency alert preferences, demographics and more. The survey is open to residents in communities within the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone of the station: Merrimac, Newburyport, Amesbury, Salisbury, Newbury and West Newbury. Residents are encouraged to share the survey with family and friends who live in these communities. Only one survey should be completed per household.
Residents interested in taking the survey can click here. The survey is available in English and Spanish. The survey is open and will remain live until Tuesday, Aug. 31. The survey is anonymous and all information will be kept confidential.
Residents who do not have access to the internet or have difficulty using it may call 2-1-1 for assistance. Residents may request a hard copy of the survey by calling MEMA at 508-820-2001.
