The new radios will be programmed then placed into service.
The radios will be able to receive and transmit on multiple radio bands, making communications with inter-agency and mutual aid partners more accessible. Older technologies could only operate on one band. The radios also offer the newest technology and security features, which are imperative for critical incidents.
This grant allowed the Department to fulfill its communications needs, which are vital to the safety of firefighters and the community at large.
Chief Fisher said: “We have spent the last six years writing several different types of grants. In obtaining these awards we are able to stay up to date, saving our taxpayers hundreds of thousand dollars.”
