Adding four additional firefighters will ensure two trained firefighters/EMTs are on-duty 24 hours a day.
Currently, we rely on a per-diem system where members sign up for shifts between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. if they are available. Without firefighters at the station, the apparatus may be unused unless a member is in town and available.
Half of our members reside outside of town, and 11 members work as firefighters/EMTs for other towns, which reduces the chances of a local response when they are working at their primary job.
