Our mission at the Merrimac Fire Department is to provide quality fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the public and promote customer satisfaction as well as conduct fire safety programs to the students within the Merrimac schools, local groups and other interested organizations.

Our goal with this site is to be an informative resource and to educate the public about fire hazards, as well as emergency medical assistance and other public health concerns.

Station History

The Merrimac Fire Station was built in the early 1900s, and was originally used as an old trolley car barn.  After the trolleys, it was converted to a Bus barn (know as the Mass Northeastern Bus Lines).  In the early 1960’s, a construction company bought it to house and repair it’s equipment while building Interstate 495.  In 1974, the Town bought it and in 1976 after much rehab, the Merrimac Police, Fire and Highway made their home in this building.
